VII - Vitamins and Minerals - Both vitamins and minerals are needed by the body in very small amounts to trigger the thousands of chemical reactions necessary to maintain good health. Many of these chemical reactions are linked, with one triggering another. If there is a missing or deficient vitamin or mineral-or link-anywhere in this chain, this process may break down, with potentially devastating health effects. Although similar in supporting critical functions in the human body, vitamins and minerals have key differences.

'If you choose to use nutritional supplements, it is in your best interest to use only those products that list actual foods as their ingredients rather than synthetic and isolated vitamins. While some synthetic and isolated vitamins have been shown to provide minimal health benefits, on the whole, most of them cause more harm than good and you are far better off spending your money on whole foods.'

'According to Judith DeCava, MS, LNC; She states that "...a minute amount of a vitamin that is left intact in its whole food form is tremendously more functional, powerful, and effective nutritionally than a large amount of a chemically-pure, vitamin fraction. Therefore, only small amounts of natural vitamin complexes are required. They are organic micronutrients, nutrients needed in tiny quantities, to accomplish many big biochemical jobs.'

'A diet high in oxygen is a mostly vegetarian diet with a high concentration of fruits and vegetables. This is because fruits and vegetables are largely composed of water, which is hydrogen and oxygen and mostly oxygen by weight. They are also excellent sources of both alkaline minerals, which help your cells stay a healthy PH, and anti-oxidants, which protect our cells from free-radical damage. An oxygen-depleting diet would consist of one high in meat, sugar, saturated fats, white bread, processed foods, and soft drinks. Switching to an oxygen-rich diet often brings immediate energy and a more zestful outlook.'

"Superior quality products are created from this philosophy: The human body is a marvelously designed living organism with the ability to grow, regulate, repair, and defend itself when given natural, high quality, full spectrum nutrients. For the best, long-lasting, results, choose a line of food-based products from natural, wild-crafted and organically grown foods to enhance the quality of human body performance: physical, mental, and emotional.'

'What you are looking for is a Vitamin E that has a natural unesterified mixed tocopherol complex containing antithrombic d-alpha tocopherol, which protects against internal blood clots and actually dissolves them. And also containing d-beta, dgamma, and d-delta tocopherols for synergistic antioxidant protection against harmful free radical damage and perioxynitrates, damaging to brain cells, and also containing tocopherols in a non-genetically modified source. You do not want the synthetic dl form and not the esterified tocopherol acetate or succinate, not the ordinary soy oil diluted
mixed tocopherols or adulterated forms. You want the Vitamin E, which contains all four components for the powerful synergistic effects as nature intended. You do not want a Vitamin E with added soy oil or other oil fillers, which can turn rancid and cause harmful free radical damage.' 'The master mineral that everyone is deficient in is calcium. Like Vitamin E, our food source has been depleted of calcium. Also, much of the food we consume, such as carbonated drinks and coffee, as well as prescription and non-prescription drugs, block calcium absorption. Therefore, I can categorically assure you that you are calcium deficient. Calcium, in my opinion, is the most important mineral in the body. When you are deficient in calcium, nothing else works well. Increasing calcium to the level that it is supposed to be and eliminating the deficiency does wonderful things to the body.'
'Like Vitamin E, there are many kinds of calcium. In my opinion, you must get a form of calcium that is the most absorbable and useable in the body. I believe that marine grade coral calcium from Okinawa, Japan is one of the best forms of calcium you can take.'
